Our summer intern program has been in full swing since June 6th, and we couldn't be more excited about their growth and accomplishments. Here’s a glimpse into the first few weeks of our 2024 summer internship program! Our interns kicked off their experience with an after-work social hour at Bowlero in Tysons, VA. It was a fantastic opportunity for them to bond, unwind, and build lasting connections. But, the fun didn't stop there! They participated in an engaging Agile workshop led by our CIO, John Rosenbaum. Through the 99 Test Balloons game, they gained valuable insights into Acceptance Criteria, Testing, and Velocity, making Agile principles come to life in a fun and interactive way. We also had the privilege of having McArthur Newell, II and Patricia Donkor lead a workshop about our EOC (Empower Our Community) network. They introduced our interns to our diverse Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), emphasizing the importance of finding community within the workplace. Our interns learned the value of leaning in, getting involved, and making the most of their summer at Steampunk. This summer marks the fourth year of our internship program at Steampunk! We would like to recognize 17 interns that have now transitioned to full-time employees over the past few years. These intern alumni are engaged in a variety of roles within our company, ranging from Business Development and Marketing to Data Exploitation and Design & Strategy. We are incredibly proud of their success and fortunate to have such an impactful program that provides opportunities for growth within and outside of Steampunk. Steampunk, Inc. had an incredible Day 1 at the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Summit in Washington, DC! Today was packed with insights and innovation as we explored how public sector customers are leveraging AWS to tackle challenges and drive digital transformation. Here are some highlights from our day: 💡 Inspiring Keynote: Dave Levy, VP of Worldwide Public Sector at AWS, kicked off the day with a keynote featuring customer stories. ⚙ Technical Sessions: We attended in-depth lectures on cloud architecture, security, and data analytics, providing us with new strategies and best practices. ✏ Interactive Whiteboard Case Studies: These sessions allowed us to collaborate on real-world scenarios, enhancing our problem-solving skills and technical knowledge. 🖐 Hands-On Workshops: Solution-building and gamified learning sessions allowed our employees to apply what we learned with step-by-step technical demos. 🏛 Expo Hall: Engaging with AWS experts and partners in the Expo Hall gave us direct access to cutting-edge tools, services, and insights. Huge shout out to Sean Dillon, Alan Crouch, Mihnea Birisan, Jenifer Sessums, and everyone who played a part in making today possible, including many of our Steampunk summer interns!
