Part 2 of my reflections from this past week at work, which has been physically exhausting but has given me much needed clarity and closures - We had a booth put up at a tech fair organized at Microsoft. The goal of this booth was to showcase the amazing work people have been doing and learn along. Our tiny user research team had a booth (our presence) at this tech fair - and I don't know about others but I think it is these small things that will make user research reach more people. Thanks to our leaders who got us the opportunity. While I was showcasing the incredible work of our team, I realized how much I underplay my own work. We literally created a custom evaluation framework for copilot, which can be used by anyone that wants to build this new tech better. I didn't think it was anything extraordinary until so many people at the tech fair asked about it. They were curious to use this framework themselves. Now, of course we leveraged some work that was already done by the Responsible AI teams at Microsoft. But we also added new value on top of it - which was specifically helping the users of our copilot. How many people get to do something like this?! And all this while I kept never mentioning it anywhere. On a casual Tuesday, I learnt from my PM friend how he productized the research recommendations identified using this framework we created. Whatta week of realizing my own impact on our products! I can finally just shut down the other Apurva in my brain who is constantly doubting me. Wow! What a week,gratitude surges within me as I reflect on the transformative experience of my inaugural AWS re:Invent journey! This event has been a catalyst for upskilling my technical abilities, thanks to the myriad of opportunities provided through breakout and builder sessions, advanced chats, whiteboard and code talks. Each session that I attended was a deep dive into the cutting edge of advanced security tools and best practices, allowing me to gain valuable insights into subjects such as mapping enterprise controls and governance at a high-level overview and learning how to make network management security easier when deploying new workloads in environments and much more! The connections forged during this awe-inspiring event are nothing short of extraordinary. From engaging conversations with like-minded individuals to rubbing shoulders with industry experts, every interaction was a stepping stone toward personal and professional growth. It's not just a conference; it's a community that fosters collaboration, innovation, and camaraderie. A special shoutout to the conference staff whose dedication ensured a seamless and enriching experience. The All Builders Welcome mentors and speakers played a pivotal role in shaping my perspective and equipping me with tools to navigate the ever-evolving tech landscape. 🎉 Today marks my 2 year anniversary at Microsoft Netherlands! And what a way to celebrate it last night with a few hundred of my colleagues at our summer beach party! ☀️ Yesterday we had a workshop with our team where we discussed what are our #superpowers. 💪 A few that stood out for me: ⚡️Generating energy: When I’m passionate about something, I love exciting and energising those around me. 🤝 Connecting with others : In my role, I work across a variety of teams and really enjoy connecting the dots and helping to paint a bigger picture. 📚 Always learning : With the constantly evolving nature of technology, there is always something new to learn which keeps things interesting!
