Breguet makes what was probably the world's first wristwatch, for the Queen of Naples.

The tourbillon is invented, to counteract the effects of gravity on the balance wheel and spring.

The "pare-chute" shock absorbing system is invented. Breguet famously demonstrated this invention by throwing a watch across the room at a party.

Breguet invents the circular gong for repeating watches, enabling very thin repeater movements.
