Can the game be played on mobile? – No. The Room VR: A Dark Matter is a VR exclusive title and can only be played by using a VR headset.
Are you giving up on mobile? – After 8 years and four games in The Room series on mobile, we felt it was time to take a step back and try something new. We’ve always been big fans of VR, and the opportunity to bring The Room into virtual reality seemed like a great way to do that. That isn’t to say that we’ll never make another mobile Room game – we haven’t planned beyond the current game, and if we have a great idea for a Room game more suited to mobile then that’s definitely something we’d consider!
Why VR? – We’ve always felt that the Room series would be incredibly well suited to VR, but it never felt like the right time to take that step. The release of more powerful and accessible headsets has finally allowed us to pursue this interest as a viable option.
What is VR? – VR stands for Virtual Reality. In order to play VR games, you need a VR headset + corresponding controller(s). The headset contains screens within it which allow you to see the gameplay – any head or hand movements carried out while wearing the headset will correlate to what you see within the headset. It can make for quite an immersive experience!
