Financial Empowerment

Through our Citizens Helping Citizens Manage Money program, we help give people the confidence and tools they need to budget, save, invest and make informed financial decisions.

Partnering for Empowerment and Impact

We support nonprofit organizations whose financial education and resources help advance social equity, close opportunity gaps and revitalize local communities so all people can realize their potential. In 2024, Citizens committed $2.4 million to support 137 local nonprofit organizations' financial empowerment programs in the low-to-moderate income communities we serve. Through these partnerships, we aim to help our neighbors and communities reach their financial goals.

Junior Achievement

Junior Achievement is the nation’s largest organization, committed to equipping young individuals with the knowledge and skills necessary for economic empowerment. Their mission encompasses fostering financial literacy, encouraging thoughtful academic and economic decisions and empowering students to shape their futures. As one of our premiere national partners, Citizens mobilizes our colleagues as volunteers to bring their programs to life in classrooms throughout our communities. Citizens colleagues were recently recognized by Junior Achievement with the Bronze U.S. President’s Volunteer Service Award for the 2022-2023 school year.

Invest in Girls

Invest in Girls is on a mission to usher in the next generation of financially literate girls and increase the number of women working in finance and related fields. They deliver programming to build financial competency and confidence in teen girls through engaging programs offered directly to girls online or in the classroom, and through curriculum to teachers and volunteers. Over the past several years, Citizens has partnered with Invest in Girls to build financial competency and confidence in teen girls. Our colleagues have committed more than 1,000 volunteer hours, serving as role models and mentors to teens, while helping to inspire them to learn in a safe and trusting environment.

Delivering tailored education and guidance

Helping people understand their finances is one of the most important things we do at Citizens. Our skilled and passionate colleague volunteers teach financial empowerment workshops, participate in mentorship opportunities, provide support in volunteer income tax assistance and engage in board service assignments in the communities where we live and work.
