  • Internal NPC ID: 670, 678–684
Not to be confused with Slimes or Pet Slime.

Town Slimes are a type of town pet. They can be moved in by players, similar to the Town Cat, Town Dog, and Town Bunny. They also count for Pylon requirements and reduce enemy spawn rate, and do not affect NPC happiness in any way.

Types[]

There are 8 different town slimes and each is unlocked in a different way:

Notes[]

  • The Nerdy Slime requires killing King Slime again if he has already been defeated on a world prior to 1.4.4.
  • The Cool Slime cannot spawn during a party started with a Party Center.
  • NPC Slimes are not required for the Princess NPC to spawn.
  • The Diva Slime's animated sprite cycles through rainbow colors.
  • The Diva Slime can only be spawned by throwing a single Sparkle Slime Balloon into the shimmer. A stack will not work.
  • The Squire Slime cannot actually hit enemies, as referenced in its bestiary entry.
  • The Squire Slime can only be transformed on most smaller, normal slimes. Gastropod and the Hoppin' Jack (which is not a slime) will not work, but statue-spawned ones will. Transforming the slime will destroy the item used.
    • Only the slimes with the types 1, 333, 335, 336, 302, and 334 can be transformed into the Squire Slime:
  • If one does not have the necessary copper items and cannot find any in the world, they must be secured with a variety of other ways, such as creating another non-Journey character for the sword, import copper from other worlds, fish for them in crates, throw Tin into Shimmer or the Chlorophyte Extractinator.
  • To add them to the bestiary you have to interact with them.
  • Town Slimes can't be transformed by Shimmer.

  • Trivia[]

    • All town slimes' quotes are incomprehensible gibberish but generally tend to be onomatopoeia associated with amorphous entities.
    • “Drip!”, a quote by the Cool Slime, may both reference the alternate form to say "drop" and the slang ”drip”, a term to refer to someone's cool sense of style.
    • Most of the slimes' quotes make refferences to bubbles, splashing and gluggling sounds.
    • Slival, a possible name of the Squire Slime, may be a reference to the antagonist/anti-hero of the Dragon Quest spin-off Rocket Slime, an RPG where most of the characters are slimes.
    • All slimes’ names begin with the letter “S”.
    • One of the Squire Slime's names is Samsara. A samsara is an endless cycle of life, death, and reincarnation, which is present in the concepts of Buddhism and Hinduism.

    BestiaryBestiary entries

    • Cool Slime: "Easily the coolest slime around, no question. You can tell from the backwards hat and indecipherable slang."
    • Clumsy Slime: "This slime was a little confused when the other slimes started putting on hats and accessories. But it did its best."
    • Nerdy Slime: "Just a smidge cleverer than other slimes, this slime discovered how to coexist with humans. The secret: accessorizing!"
    • Surly Slime: "Irascible and insufferable, this grumpy slime is probably up to no good. Probably. It's the thought that counts, really."
    • Elder Slime: "Older, though not necessarily wiser, the other slimes look up to the Elder Slime. If it survived this long, it must know something!"
    • Diva Slime: "Born of the combined energies of Shimmer and the Queen Slime, this slime is full of boundless energy and enthusiasm! And so fancy!"
    • Mystic Slime: "This slime knows that great witches wear impressive hats, but it only found a droopy one. Might explain the backfired polymorph!"
    • Squire Slime: "A hero amongst slimes, it wields the greatest arms and armor known to its kind. It doesn't actually know how to use them, but it's a start."
