The Tackle Box is an accessory that decreases the chance of bait consumption while Fishing. It has a 2.5*1/40 (2.5%)[1] chance to be randomly acquired upon completing Angler fishing quests.
On average, the Tackle Box makes any given bait last one reel-in longer. For more details, see Bait Power.
The effects of the Tackle Box do not stack with the Angler Tackle Bag.
The Tackle Box will not decrease the chance of a Truffle Worm being consumed when summoning Duke Fishron, there is always a 100% chance.
On the PC version,
Console version,
Mobile version, and
tModLoader version, the Angler will not give the player a Tackle Box as a reward if they already have one in their inventory or in any of their Portable Storages. However, if the player has a High Test Fishing Line, Angler Earring, and Tackle Box (or they have the accessory crafted from them, the Angler Tackle Bag
) in their inventories, he will be able to give the player duplicate Tackle Boxes.[1]
