The Reaver Shark is a pickaxe available through fishing in the Ocean with any rod stronger than the Reinforced Fishing Pole.

It can mine blocks weaker than Demonite and Crimtane ores.

It can mine Obsidian and Hellstone ores.

Its best modifier is Light for harvesting purposes and Legendary for combat purposes.

Notes[]

  • Despite a faster swing speed, the Reaver Shark has the same mining speed as the Molten Pickaxe; both are still somewhat slow in mining blocks that are easily broken in one hit, such as Dirt.
  • The Reaver Shark is no longer able to mine hellstone ore on desktop versions 1.4.0.1 and above. This renders the tool almost completely useless, as its only use is to mine obsidan, an ore that is barely useful by itself unless paired with Demonite ore. That being said, it can play a part in progression in very early game terraria, but means that expert/master mode players are no longer able to skip the Eater of worlds or Brain of cthulu progession

Trivia[]

  • It bears some visual resemblance to a hammerhead shark. The most notable difference is that the Reaver Shark has its head in a vertical direction instead of a horizontal direction. However, this being said, the Reaver Shark is not a real creature.
  • There are three fish tools that can be obtained through fishing: the Sawtooth Shark (a chainsaw), the Reaver Shark, and the Rockfish (a hammer).
