Overview

The Minilla (ゴジラ,   Gojira?) of the Final Wars continuity is an infant Godzilla kaiju, and the first and only version within the Millennium series of films. This version appears in Godzilla: Final Wars.

Name[]

Godzilla's name within the Millennium series follows the convention of that of the 1954 Godzilla. being a transliteration of Gojira (ゴジラ?), a combination of two Japanese words: gorira (ゴリラ?), meaning gorilla, and kujira (鯨 or クジラ?), meaning whale.

Design[]

Minilla retains some superficial features from the previous design, such as the eye brows, the short snout and a similar overall color. He also has irises on the eyes, more noticeable dorsal fins, a peach-like light green color on his belly and the underside of the hands, claws, and multiple teeth.

Roar[]

Minilla retains the roars of his Showa era predecessor.

Personality[]

Minilla's role in Godzilla: Final Wars was unchanged from the Showa series; unlike most kaiju, he is very human-friendly, especially towards children. He also interceded on behalf of humanity to Godzilla, prompting Godzilla to end his war with the human race.

Origins[]

This incarnation of Minilla is a member of Godzilla's species and holds a familial attachment to Godzilla.

History[]

Godzilla: Final Wars[]

Godzilla Final Wars - Minilla

Minilla in Godzilla: Final Wars

Minilla is encountered by the young boy named Kenta while he and his grandfather are hunting in the forest. Minilla joins the two in their truck, where they drive to Mt. Fuji to witness Godzilla's battle with Anguirus, Rodan, and King Caesar.

Upon witnessing this battle, Minilla's height springs up to 20 meters. Following Godzilla's battle with Keizer Ghidorah, Minilla appears in front of Godzilla and convinces him to leave the crew of the Gotengo alone. He then departs into the ocean with Godzilla. He has the ability to breathe smoke rings, but he only does it once, before he grows, and then breathed a full atomic breath before departing at the end.

Abilities[]

Amphibiousness[]

Like Godzilla, Minilla has an amphibious lifestyle, being able to breathe underwater.

Atomic breath[]

Minilla can produce atomic rays from his mouth, although he initially struggled with this. At the very end of the film, he was shown firing an atomic ray at the very end of the film.

Size changing[]

Minilla the ability to grow from a human-sized height to a larger scale, albeit still smaller compared to Godzilla like an infant to an adult. It is unknown if he can revert to his human height.

Video games[]

Godzilla (2014 video game)[]

The Minilla appearing in "Godzilla: Final Wars" (2004) is a juvenile of the same species as the Godzilla that was discovered on Mt. Fuji by an elderly hunter and his grandchild. With the sentient ability to commune with humans, it serves as a bridge linking kaiju and people together. Before long, it is expected to grow to giant proportions and become able to shoot forth atomic breath like Godzilla.

Minilla's famous toddler-like waddling gait was a product of the shape of the original Minilla costume that made it extremely cumbersome to walk in. In the "Godzilla: Final Wars" version (2004), stuntwomen took over the role of the stuntmen.
