King Kong is a multi-media franchise consisting of giant monster films, games, comics, toys, and any licensed products starring the character King Kong.

History[]

The King Kong franchise has is existed since 1933 and it has been owned by various film studios like RKO Pictures, Paramount Pictures, and Universal Pictures. Also, Toho Company Ltd. licensed the character, King Kong to appear in two kaiju films, with one film crossing over with Godzilla in 1962, titled King Kong vs. Godzilla and another film in 1967 being titled King Kong Escapes. King Kong Escapes is not in the same continuity with King Kong vs. Godzilla.

The Dino De Laurentiis Corporation produced two King Kong films alongside Paramount Pictures, with one film being a reboot and a sequel, titled King Kong Lives.

In 2005, Universal Pictures produced another reboot of the King Kong franchise.

Once Kong: Skull Island was released in 2017, King Kong starred in the MonsterVerse alongside Godzilla, the next two films would be produced by Legendary Pictures and Warner Bros., in which Godzilla would appear alongside King Kong.
