Godzilla (ゴジラ Gojira?) is the protagonist of IDW's 2016 comic series Godzilla: Rage Across Time.
Name[]
The name "Godzilla" is a transliteration of Gojira (ゴジラ?), a combination of two Japanese words: gorira (ゴリラ?), meaning gorilla, and kujira (鯨 or クジラ), meaning whale.

Appearance[]
In the majority of his appearances, Godzilla seems to be illustrated after the 2000: Millennium design, with a jagged design and green skin with large, purple dorsal fins. The only time his design seems to change is in the fourth issue, where he seems to look like a mix between the Kiryu Saga Godzilla and the Heisei Godzilla.

Godzilla: Rage Across Time[]
As Akio and Gorou had control of Orochi with an idol that the Shobijin gave them, Godzilla blasted at the serpent with his atomic breath. After a quick battle, Godzilla killed Orochi. Akio decided to fire an arrow at the beast to anger him, following the two as they led him to Hakata Bay where Gigan and Megalon had just reached the Emperor's castle. Shifting his attention to the two kaiju, Godzilla battled against the duo, causing both Gigan and Megalon to flee once their control was severed.
Godzilla would go onto destroy two warring factions in Ancient Greece, causing the Greek Gods to discuss amongst themselves. This would spark Poseidon to investigate the mortals, eventually being killed himself by Godzilla. Godzilla would eventually arrive at Mount Olympus, with Ares trying to fight Godzilla and failing miserably, getting completely vaporized. Zeus would send out the Hydra to battle Godzilla, with Godzilla eventually smashing the Hydra into Mouth Olympus itself, killing everyone save for Zeus. Using the last remains of his power, Zeus completely incinerated Godzilla, causing Zeus to lose all his power and revert to a mortal. As Zeus relocated to Pompeii, Godzilla seemingly reincarnated himself, emerging from Mount Vesuvius, causing it to erupt.
Godzilla eventually would encounter a group of Roman soldiers as they were battling Hannibal in the Alps. Hannibal then decided to form an unbreakable column and attack Godzilla. As this happened, the Romans ambushed Hannibal's men before Godzilla attacked. Hannibal and some of his men did survive, hiding in a ravine before firing catapults at Godzilla, allowing archers to douse Godzilla in vinegar while others fired upon him. An explosion would be caused because of this, resulting in the cave collapsing around Godzilla.
Back in time in the Late Cretaceous period, Godzilla alongside Anguirus with fire an atomic breath at Rodan, killing him before battling Varan. Godzilla continued fighting random kaiju until Keizer Ghidorah appeared. As the alien beamed everything in site, Godzilla and Anguirus roared towards him. Transforming back into Monster X, the alien would fire his destroyed thunder, causing Godzilla to roar in pain. As Godzilla was downed, Monster X would kill Anguirus. Now enraged, Godzilla would tackle Monster X to the ground, biting off his horn before being distracted after witnessing Xilien UFOs. Due to loosing focus, Godzilla would be thrown into a volcano. Godzilla would eventually emerge back from the ground, easily incinerating both a velociraptor and a nearby human.
