Synopsis for 1st story

In the light of Druig's declaration of war against the mutants, the narrator observes the lives of nine citizens of the Earth: an anti-mutant Englishman named Tom, a pro-mutant Canadian named Katrina, an indifferent old Indian named Arjun, a Brazilian gig worker named Daniela, a reconsidering anti-mutant American named Jada, and an irreverent Japanese kid named Kenta.

On Krakoa, the Avengers arrive to help the island's champions against the Hex. Meanwhile, Iron Man sets out to reanimate the Progenitor with Ajak, Makkari and Mister Sinister. When the fight against the Hex threatens to cause tidal collateral damage, Cyclops has the Avengers tend to it. Iron Man and his allies gather the necessary elements for their plan: a thumbprint from Arishem's earthfall, a shattered fragment of the Dreaming Celestial, and the lingering power of the ravaged Destroyer. Freed from the Avengers' custody, Sersi gathers the Eternals who stand against Druig. Phastos begins assembling the Progenitor while the Eternals explore Lemuria, where the Deviants hold a séance and gather testimony of the Celestials' slaughter. In Olympia, Iron Man and his allies debate to write a new scripture to make the new god a better one. Finally, they use Tony Stark's body as a blueprint for the Progenitor's nervous system due to his recent cosmic experiences having lingering effects on his body.

Back in Krakoa, Exodus sacrifices himself to kill one of the Hex, Syne the Memotaur. He returns via the Five, while his Eternal opponent returns via the Machine That Is Earth. Meanwhile, Tod watches orbital footage of the Krakoan war, and roots for the Eternals. Katrina continues showing her support in social media. Arjun dies, his life force having been taken by the Machine for Syne's rebirth. Daniela continues working, paying no attention to the crisis. Jada continues reconsidering her anti-mutant posture. Kenta happily records Captain Marvel punching a tidal wave from out of his window.

In the North Pole, Iron Man, Ajak, Makkari and Mister Sinister oversee the finishing touches for the Progenitor's rebirth. Back in Krakoa, Syne is teleported back to the fray and begins tearing down the entire island. The mutants brace for the worst. At that moment, Ajak hits the button that returns the Progenitor back to life. It rises, and orders the Hex to retreat. The celebration from Tony and his allies is cut short when the Progenitor denounces the inhabitants of the planet, likening them to bickering children. For the next twenty-four hours, it will judge the people of Earth, individually and collectively. And if they are found lacking, the Progenitor warns that there will be no tomorrow.
