Scammers are pretending to be the Social Security Administration (SSA) and try to get your social security number or your money. Below is one example, telling you your benefits will end. Other scams include lies about suspending your social security number because of suspicious activity or a crime, reactivating your social security number, your bank accounts being seized, etc.

The Social Security Administration will never call to threaten your benefits or tell you to wire money, send cash, or put money on gift cards. Never give any part of your Social Security number to anyone who contacts you. Never give your bank account, credit card number or any other personal or financial information.
