How to Get the Swamp Key and Where to Use It
Valheim is a vast world with lots of secrets. There are some of these that are locked behind a wall and you need to figure out where to find that missing puzzle to be able to progress. One of those so-called blocks is the Swamp Key.
Progressing the Swamp biome would be hard without the Swamp key and in this guide. you'll learn about where to get it as well as where to use it.
How to Find The Swamp Key
The Swamp Key can only be obtained by defeating the Elder. This battle might be a hard-fought one depending on your level of equipment and your strategy. After defeating the Elder, you have a 100% chance of getting the Swamp Key to use in the Swamps.
If you're playing with your friends, you can kill the Elder multiple times with them. This will give them a copy of the Swamp Key of their own so that they can explore Sunken Crypts on their own.
Where to Use the Swamp Key
After defeating the Elder, the Swamp Key you got from it can be used in the Swamp biome. You need to look around for something called Sunken Crypts. They're basically dungeons similar to the Burial Grounds that are scattered across the Swamp biome.
There should be an Iron Gate in front of it. To unlock it, interact with it and as long as you have a Swamp Key in your inventory, it should open. Opening the gate of a sunken crypt only happens once which means that when it's already open, you don't need to use your Swamp Key again to enter it.
Inside the Sunken Crypt, there will be a lot of enemies protecting the treasures that lie behind it. Make sure that you're prepared before you push through. Also, make sure you have a couple of pickaxes with you as you'd have to mine down Muddy Scrap Piles to be able to access other rooms.
You will also find iron scraps in the Sunken Crypts as well as a bunch of other materials like Leather Scraps and Withered Bones. There are also treasures inside chests as well as a possibility to find Bonemass' Vegvisir.
