Gwent: Velen Players is a secondary quest in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt that involves playing gwent to advance. This quest must be completed for those looking to earn the Card Collector achievement.
- The Sharpers, a gwent playing society based at Crow's Perch, is looking for new members - and opponents.
- Experience preferred, but we will also school newcomers to the game (but not return any coin lost during training matches).
- For more information see the club's chairman, Phillip Strenger, known as the Bloody Baron.
The 
rewarded in this quest is unaffected by level constraint and difficulty level.
Walkthrough[]
The quest may be started by either finding the notice on Crow's Perch or Midcopse's notice boards, or directly by challenging the Bloody Baron who uses the Northern Realms deck. Once defeated he will hand over the Sigismund Dijkstra card and give you the names of Velen's best players: Haddy, Old Sage, and a boatwright.
Note: As of Patch 1.20, if you didn't defeat him before the secondary quest Return to Crookback Bog, you can find the Baron's card attached to the list of players in his office. However, it only appears there after the quest has been started, so if it's not active yet look for the notice.
No matter how you obtain the list, now you can go play the other three in no particular order.
The Old Sage is in Benek and plays the Monsters deck and gives the Crone: Weavess card.
Haddy is a young boy in Midcopse, but don't let his age fool you. He plays with the Northern Realms deck and if beaten will give the Vernon Roche card.
The boatwright lives in Oreton and can be found near the middle of the village with the boats. He uses the Nilfgaardian deck and will give the Letho of Gulet card.
Once you beat all of them, you'll earn the Monsters leader's card, Eredin: Destroyer of Worlds.
Journal entry[]
- Though you might think it unlikely, even war-ravaged Velen boasted many prominent gwent players. They possessed certain valuable cards which Geralt wished to add to his collection. To do that, he needed to defeat them. The first on his "To Fleece" list: the Bloody Baron.
- In the end, Geralt crossed every name off his list and acquired all the valuable cards he sought.

- Win a unique card from the baron.
- If the Bloody Baron isn't defeated before his questline ends:
- Look for a unique card and information about other players in the baron's office.
- Win a unique card from the man in Oreton.
- Win a unique card from Haddy of Midcopse.
- Win a unique card from the soothsayer.
Bugs[]
- After playing the Old Sage in Benek and completeing the quest, he'll direct you to play Haddy in Midcopse, even if you've already beaten Haddy.
