Tomb Raider: The Times is a standalone bonus level of Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation. It is available only on the PC, unlike previous expansions, it does not require the disc for Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation. The level appears to be partially based off the title flyby seen in Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation. Some installations of Tomb Raider: The Times come with two short bonus games called Clicker and Jigsaw.
This bonus level was a promotion for The Times newspaper celebrating the discovery of the Tutankhamun's tomb 75th anniversary.
Plot[]
In November 1922, the British archeologist Howard Carter famously discovered Tutankhamun's tomb. This major archeological discovery was exclusively reported to the world by the British daily national newspaper The Times.
In 1999, a mysterious group for unknown reasons is doing a new excavation and exploration of the tomb. The chief editor of The Times, Peter Stothard perturbed by this development, asks Lara Croft to go to the tomb and retrieve any riches and valuable artifacts before someone else does.
Chronology[]
Although it is not stated anywhere in the game or in the relevant material, the incompatibility of The Last Revelation's ending with the plot of the Times bonus level entails that Lara's exploration of Tutankhamun's tomb takes place before the events of The Last Revelation.
