Tomb Raider (stylized as Lara Croft: Tomb Raider from 2001-2007) is a multimedia franchise originated from video games, it follows the adventures and exploits of Lara Croft, a world-renowned archaeologist adventuress and the series' main protagonist.

The series began in 1996 with Tomb Raider. The game was a critical and commercial success, spawning numerous games (sequels and reboots), comic books, spin-offs, movie adaptations and Lara herself as a sponsor for many companies and products.

The series was noted for being a pioneer in gaming, for being one of the best examples of early 3D platforming.

1996[]

  • Tomb Raider (PlayStation, PC, Sega Saturn and Android iOS)

Lara is contracted by Jacqueline Natla to search for the Scion of Atlantis. However, the hunt becomes personal when Natla cancels Lara's contract. Lara realizes that Natla's motives are of an insidious nature and sets out to collect the Scion for herself.

1997[]

As Lara hunts for the legendary Dagger of Xian, her search brings her into conflict with Mafia leader, Marco Bartoli, who also seeks the dagger.

1998[]

Lara is hired to recover four artifacts fashioned from an ancient meteorite that hold tremendous power. However, Lara soon learns why her employer needs them so much.

1999[]

Lara accidentally opens the Tomb of Set and sets out to put things right. However, her former mentor, Werner Von Croy, seeks to release Set into the world.

2000[]

With Lara missing and presumed dead, Lara's friends share stories about Lara's past exploits.

2003[]

After the murder of her mentor, Lara is the primary suspect. She journeys across Europe as she tries to clear her name by uncovering the truth of a mysterious group, known as Lux Veritatis, and a Serial Killer known as Monstrum.

Lara seeks a Stone Dais from her past, but she soon realizes that it is useless without the key, The Legendary Sword of King Arthur, Excalibur.

2007[]

Set before the events of Tomb Raider: Legend, Lara is contracted by Jacqueline Natla to recover the Scion of Atlantis. However, Natla knows that Lara also wants the Scion, as her father had also sought it at one point. Natla tries to have Lara killed, but Lara survives, and races to find the remaining pieces of the Scion.

2008[]

Lara seeks the the location of the Entrance to Avalon. Discovering a link between the Saxon Legend and Norse Myth, Lara seeks the Hammer of Thor, Mjolnir.

An expedition gone awry leaves a young Lara Croft stranded on an island, full of savage beasts, insane cultists, and the mystery of the Shamanistic Queen, Himiko. In a desperate fight for survival, Lara must uncover the truth in order to get home.

2015[]

After a cover up leads to Lara being discredited and called crazy, she searches for the fabled city of Kitezh to prove the existence of an immortal soul, and clear her late father's good name.

2018[]

Lara inadvertently triggers an apocalyptic event, which Trinity intends to see to fruition. Lara races against time to stop the end of humanity.
