The tekkō-kagi (Japanese: 手甲鉤, literally: "back of the hand hooks") are a variant on the tekkō (鉄甲, literally: "iron", "armor"). Originating from Japan, the tekkō is a pair of modified horseshoes or stirrups that serve a similar purpose to brass knuckles - namely, increasing handheld blunt force. The tekkō-kagi are tekkō that have been altered to sport multiple sharp, bear claw-like blades that cover the wearer's knuckles, allowing them to perform piercing blows or improve their defensive range.
Mortal Kombat[]
In Mortal Kombat 1, both the current and Titan Shang Tsung wield a pair of modified tekkō-kagi called the Tekko-Kagi Claws. The blades are retractable, tipped with a venomous green substance, and can ignite for more potent attacks. The current Shang Tsung used them to kill the Reiko from Titan Shang Tsung's timeline.
