Godzilla vs. Megalon (ゴジラVSメガロ Gojira VS Megaro?, lit. Godzilla vs. Megalon) is a 2023 short film produced for Godzilla Fest 2023 in collaboration with GEMSTONE. It is a sequel to Takuya Uenishi's 2022 film Godzilla vs. Gigan Rex, and features Godzilla battling against a new incarnation of Megalon.
Plot[]
At the depth part of the ocean, a Seatopian priestess was awakening Megalon through a special pendant. As she did, it was revealed that her people managed to seize Gigan Rex's mangled remains and subsequently siphoned its remaining energy reserves to empower their guardian deity.
Meanwhile, Godzilla appeared in a city. JSDF attacked him, confirmed the reduction of Atomic Breath's power and thermo-nuclear energy. A man broadcasted a livestream, saying that Godzilla destroyed all Gigans, but it seems like he was looking for something left. Soon, he found the Seatopian priestess near there. As JSDF surrounded her, she used Seatopian pendant and made them unconscious. Then, Megalon rose from the underground, destroyed JSDF tanks and flew away.
Megalon's appearance was soon reported as he arrived a city and caused chaos here while military was evacuating citizens. Megalon caused destruction in the city and then faced Godzilla. He crashed the ground, caused a large crater, destroyed a large area of the city. From the ruin, Godzilla appeared and engaged Megalon in a fight. As he fired his Atomic Breath, Megalon flew away, dodge and fired light ray at him, stunned Godzilla, and then hit the ground violently, creating a shockwave that pushed Godzilla back. Megalon fired his light ray at Godzilla again, but was deflected with the used of Nuclear Pulse. Then, he powered-up his fist with atomic power and pushed Megalon back as he tried to strike Godzilla with his drill again.
Godzilla was reported applied the atomic power for his physical attacks, which is a new skill humans have never seen, and Megalon's surface temperature was getting high. The two Kaijus had a fight at close range, and as Godzilla took the upper hand, Megalon fired out projectiles from his mandibles, pushing him away. Godzilla used nuclear pulse to push him to Megalon, performed a dropkick. Then, Godzilla held Megalon's hold, and despite his attempts, Godzilla brutally break his horn, mostly defeated him. However, his priestess came and sacrificed herself to heal and power him up. Megalon stood up, fused his drill appendages together to create lance-like weapon and flew to Godzilla, pushed him away with his new weapon. Before it could pierce through Godzilla's flesh skin, he unleashed a powered-up Atomic Breath, bisected Megalon alive. Godzilla stood up, letting out a victorious roar before falling down due to exhaustion. At the end, Godzilla was seen opened his eyes again.
