In the alternate future created by the War of the Prophets, the Battle of Rigel VII was an infamous engagement that resulted in the destruction of the USS Enterprise-E.

The conflict involved a terrorist operation that managed to alter the gravitational balance of Rigel and its moon which caused them to collide. The details varied depending on the source as the Bajoran Ascendancy claimed it was a Starfleet operation while the Federation claimed it was the work of Bajoran terrorists. It involved the use of a gravity generator. Captain Jean-Luc Picard sacrificed his ship by reconfiguring his starship's deflector dish which worked in conjunction with the gravity generator to create an artificial black hole that stopped the disaster.
