Synopsis for "Ghosts"
In ancient Egypt, a man named Amutef is condemned to die by a priest of Khonshu named Thosbi. Thosbi places a pendant around the neck of his mummified corpse to keep his soul bound but Amutef’s spirit manages to enter the pendant with a plan to reappear when the circumstances allow it.
Back in present day New York, Steven Grant and Marlene Alraune attend a museum fundraiser. The event is visited by a desperate Doctor Strange who was drawn to the event by mystical forces. The soul of the long-dead Amutef is suddenly released from an ancient amulet worn by Marlene and able to possess her. Marlene feels woozy and seeks respite at home while Grant rebuffs Doctor Strange’s plea to help.
Back at the Grant mansion, Moon Knight and Frenchie take the helicopter for a nightly round, leaving the possessed Marlene alone. Moon Knight finds thugs in a park attempting to mug a couple and confronts them but is plagued by various minor misfortunes during the encounter. Doctor Strange arrives and tells Moon Knight that this wasn’t misfortune but a genuine threat to his life and that a psychic aura is present and Marlene’s possessor must be exorcised soon. Moon Knight again rebuffs his advice and leaves in his helicopter. Upon their departure, various demons which they’re unable to see, cause disruption to the helicopter’s function. Strange battles the demons impeding Moon Knight’s helicopter and finally convinces Moon Knight of the seriousness of the situation and that Moon Knight is the key to stopping it.
They arrive at the mansion as Nedda attempts to fight off swarming cats that can detect the evil spirit of Amutef as Doctor Strange begins to battle with him and channel Khonshu’s power through Moon Knight to summon the spirit of Thosbi. Amutef and Thosbi battle across space and time with Thosbi eventually victorious. Afterwards, Doctor Strange tells Grant that he is now a complete man.
