Glyphid Stalker

“ | The Glyphid Stalker is a cunning predator that utilizes chromatophores in its chitin exoskeleton to render it practically invisible. While similar cloaking abilities have been observed among other alien species (see 'After Action Report on Navi VII, 1408A'), this appears to be a relatively new mutation for the Glyphids. The Stalker is an elusive ambusher, and can burrow and reposition itself to disorient its foes. If you suspect a Stalker present in your work environment, the best practice is to group up, watch your colleagues' backs, and cross your fingers. |
— Miner's Manual Description |
The Glyphid Stalker is a hostile Creature with the unique ability to become nearly invisible. It is a member of the Glyphid family and can be found in any region of Hoxxes IV. It has a distinct appearance with slender limbs, bright yellowish-green highlights, and a pair of large, tusk-like fangs.
Combat
The Stalker is an ambush predator, using its cloaking and burrowing capabilities to catch Dwarves by surprise and escape retaliation.
While cloaked, the Stalker becomes nearly invisible and can only be noticed as a subtle visual distortion accompanied by a faint blue shimmer. However, its distinctive sound effect can still alert the Dwarves to its presence. It will decloak and become visible upon receiving a certain amount of damage, or when pinged with the Laser Pointer. Both of these actions will enrage the Stalker, causing it to charge at high speed toward the offending Dwarf.
The Stalker also becomes visible when using its melee attack, the Short-Circuit Slash, which it performs upon reaching melee range of its target.
After using its attack, or upon taking heavy damage, the Stalker will attempt to escape by burrowing into the ground and reappearing under cloak in a new location.
While cloaked, the Stalker will not be detected by most self-aiming weapons such as Engineer's LOK-1 Smart Rifle, Sentry Turrets, and Shredder Swarm Grenade. It also will not trigger Proximity Mines. However, it can be hit by self-aiming Ricochet bullets. Once the Stalker becomes visible, it can be found by all self-aiming weapons, like any other enemy.

Attacks
The Stalker's only attack is the Short-Circuit Slash. This melee attack does heavy damage and is particularly dangerous due to its effect of disabling the Dwarf's personal Shield for 20 seconds, leaving them vulnerable to other sources of damage. A crackling blue-purple visual overlay will appear on the player's screen as long as their shield is disabled. The shield-disabling effect is applied before the attack damage, meaning the damage effectively bypasses the Dwarf's shield.
The attack is accompanied by an Electrocution status effect, which briefly slows the player and partly obstructs the screen with an electric visual (though it does no Electric damage-over-time). The slowdown can be resisted by the Unstoppable perk.
