It’s 2024, but parents – and especially mothers – still face discrimination at work. The EU is aiming to make it a thing of the past. ✅ The EU has been a frontrunner in labour equality since the 1970s to ensure men and women receive equal treatment at work. ✅ Every EU country now has employment laws to ensure fair recruitment, pay transparency, and protection of pregnant and breastfeeding workers. ✅ We also extended maternity and paternity leave provisions across the EU. In a historic gathering in Buenos Aires, Special Envoys and Coordinators combating antisemitism (SECCA) from around the world came together to honour the memory of the 1994 AMIA bombing in Buenos Aires, which claimed the lives of 85 individuals and left 300 others injured. During the meeting, participants heard powerful testimonies from survivors of the AMIA attack and discussed strategies to counter the unprecedented rise of antisemitism since October 7 and the spread of hate from online platforms to real-world violence. EC Coordinator, Katharina Von Schnurbein, presented the initiatives by the European Commission, highlighting the need for universities, schools, and civil society organisations to have protocols in place to effectively respond to acts of antisemitism.
