Fishing and Hunting
Welcome to the Fishing and Hunting page of IGN's official Wiki Guide and Walkthrough for Sea of thieves. Here, we'll break down everything you need to know about fishing in this game as well as hunting.
Fishing
Fishing in Sea of Thieves is simple to do, but complicated to master. Fishing poles are located in the inventory, and can be added to quick slots.
To fish, simply select the fishing pole from the inventory; face toward body of water, and use the attack button to swing the line.
Once a fish has bitten the line, push the rod the opposite direction the fish is swimming (push right when the fish swims left, down when the fish goes up, etc). Reel in with the same attack button when the line goes slack.
After a few cycles of pushing and reeling, the fish should be caught. Caught fish will not automatically be added to the inventory, only when accepted into your inventory. Even if the rod is put away, the fish will remain on the hook if it has not been added to the inventory.
There are 10 species of fish that come in 5 variants — so 50 different kinds of fish to catch:

Hunting
You might already be hunting in Sea of Thieves without even realizing it. Simply interacting and killing various animals and monsters is the game's version of hunting, and this can be done with swords or firearms.
The Hunter's Call offers commendations for handing in cooked versions of each of the above creatures.
