Each weapon and shield can be upgraded to increase their stats in exchange for certain materials and souls. Reinforcement can be performed by Blacksmith Andre in Firelink Shrine or at any Bonfire.

Weapon reinforcement increases their base damage. To encourage experimentation with the weapon sandbox, Weapon Reinforcement is nowhere near as important for a weapon to function well, thought it still makes an impact.

Shield reinforcement increases their base damage and stability.

Also, reinforcing a shield with an elemental infusion applied to it will increase the guard absorption with the corresponding element.

• Reinforcement is disabled in Wanderer and Mythic Modes.
