This guide will step you through the process of updating your Google Chrome web browser.
Do you need to know what version of Chrome do I have?
Depending on your settings, Android may automatically download and install Chrome updates for you, so you may not need this guide. But if you're getting warnings that your browser is out of date, here's how to easily update to the latest version.
This guide will show you how to manually trigger Android to check for Chrome updates and install them if they are found.
The Google Play Store app will now open. The Play Store lets you manage and add Applications to your phone or tablet.
Tapping the profile icon will reveal the main menu of options for your profile.
If you have any out of date apps on your device, you'll see that it says "Updates available".
Scroll down through the list of apps with updates until you find Chrome's entry in the list. There will be an Update button next to it.
The Play Store will now download and install the latest version of Google Chrome. Depending on your internet connection this may be very quick or might take a few minutes. You can speed it up by connecting to a WiFi network first.
After the Play Store has finished installing the update you will now have the latest version of Chrome!
If you find the icon in the Apps & Games listing, you will see the button now says Open instead of Update.
If you tap Open it will launch the updated version.
