Over the past 12 months the game industry has faced unprecedented challenges. We are no exception. Today we made the extremely difficult decision to inform 25 of our US-based employees that their jobs are being eliminated. This has the most impact on the teams running our business operations. There are multiple factors underlying this decision to do a layoff for the first time in our 17+ year history. Most significant is an industry-wide slow down in the funding of new lead and co-development projects and the reluctance of third party investors to fund games or game companies. This has made it exceptionally difficult to sign new work or secure other forms of funding. Our current focus is on our team and the well-being of those most impacted, whom we are supporting with severance pay and benefits continuation. We are also making their vested awards under our Stock Equity Plan portable so they may benefit from the company’s success in the future. We have built an amazing culture where we all come together to support one another in times of need. We ask for your understanding and patience while we navigate this unprecedented event. Thank you.

I worked at CA for almost 5 years and firmly believe leadership did everything they could to avoid this. They understand the impact this has on folks’ lives. Everyone’s hurting right now. I’m here for anyone that needs it 💜

You know we are in unprecedented times if Certain Affinity does a layoff. They are the Waffle House of video game co-development. I mean that in all the best ways possible (re: Waffle House FEMA scale, IYKYK). If I can do anything to help, please reach out.

Through thick and thin, from downturns to upswings, CA has held the line. While its been minute since I fired up a huge-ass workstation in the pit there, I'm sure this probably felt like a hostage situation for the leadership. CA's commitment to holding on to its formidable, and eminently talented teams is a shining light in the industry, and an example to follow. Thank you so much, Max and team, for doing so much for all of us, for all of these years! ❤️

Sad to hear, CA is a great place with great people. I hope those effected land on their feet quickly.

I'm so sorry to read this, the devs at CA are some of the finest in the industry. CA will pull through, and I'm sure will come back stronger than ever.

CA is a great place, with a quality of leadership to match. To the team at CA and anyone who was affected, I'm rooting for you all. If I can make an introduction, or otherwise be of help, don't hesitate to reach out.

Much love to all affected. CA is a wonderful place, and filled with great, caring people. I hope all affected land on their feet quickly.
