Every recycled carton creates a more sustainable future.
About us
Made mostly of paper, a renewable resource from well-managed forests, cartons contain some of the most valuable fiber in the recycling supply chain. When recycled, cartons can go on to have a second life as paper products, such as paper towels, toilet paper, and office and writing paper, and also play a key role in a growing manufacturing industry where they are used to make sustainable building and construction materials. The Carton Council is composed of four leading food and beverage carton manufacturers, Elopak, PactivEvergreen, SIG Combibloc and Tetra Pak. The organization works with others throughout the entire recycling supply chain to strengthen the infrastructure for carton recycling. The Carton Council is committed to diverting cartons from landfills to ensure their valuable material goes on to make new products, contributing to the circular economy. Through this united effort, the Carton Council continues to grow a sustainable infrastructure for carton recycling nationwide and works toward their continual goal of adding access and growing recycling of cartons throughout the U.S. Since forming in 2009, the number of households with access to recycle their food and beverage cartons through their local residential recycling program has grown by almost 240%.

Exciting news from San Diego County, where local schools have shown impressive strides in recycling and waste management. In collaboration with BCK Programs, LLC and the Carton Council, the schools developed tailored strategies to significantly enhance recycling rates, particularly for food and beverage cartons used daily in school cafeterias. Thanks to these efforts: - Recycling rates have significantly increased, with a major reduction in waste disposal costs. - Students have led the initiatives, fostering lifelong recycling habits and influencing their families and broader communities to adopt similar practices. We are proud to have supported over 1,635 schools across 92 districts in California, involving 934,000 students in efforts to promote more sustainable practices. Discover how your school can be part of this impactful journey. For more information and to view the full case study, visit https://lnkd.in/g7HagKdH
