Showcasing the power of #unmanned in the Pacific! 🚢 🌊 For a #FlashbackFriday, back in 2022, unmanned surface vessels (USVs) Nomad, Sea Hunter, and Ranger transit the Pacific Ocean to participate in the Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) 2022 exercise. This marked the first time multiple US Navy USVs operated in the biennial exercise, extending the reach of the manned U.S. fleet with fewer risks to the warfighter. RIMPAC is the largest joint maritime exercise in the world. Lasting over five weeks and spanning extensive areas in the Pacific Ocean and the Hawaiian Islands, the multinational exercise includes hundreds of ships, submarines and aircraft—along with over 25,000 personnel. This year, #RIMPAC2024 continues to provide a unique training opportunity while fostering and sustaining cooperative relationships among participants critical to ensuring the safety of sea lanes and security on the world’s oceans. 🎆 "O Say, Can You See… the USS Marinette!" 🎶 The Navy’s littoral combat ship USS Marinette (LCS 25) made a grand appearance in Bristol, Rhode Island for the 4th of July holiday thanks to local community efforts. This special visit not only celebrated America’s Independence Day, but also honored the brave men and women of the US Navy. Rhode Islanders had a unique opportunity to see naval operations up close and personal as part of the celebration and festivities. Among the many visitors was U.S. Senator Jack Reed, Chairman of the United States Senate Committee on Armed Services, who witnessed the impressive capabilities of this state-of-the-art warship. The #USSMarinette, designed for both near-shore and open-ocean missions, plays a crucial role in maritime security, sea control, and global deterrence. With the motto “Freedom Done Wright” -- a play on the trade name “shipwright,” the USS Marinette pays homage to the shipbuilders and sailors who ensure freedom is defended the right way, every day. 🇺🇸 Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) United States Senate #GoNavy #4thofJuly #IndependenceDay #Navy #PEOUSC
