[Urgent] Project priorities & micro-adjust priority You can now set priorities at the project level. Rank projects by their importance and ensure that the focus is on your most significant streams of work. We're also introducing the ability to micro-adjust priority whenever issues or projects share the same priority level.

I've always been an admirer of how Linear build software – they're entirely unafraid to break with convention and blaze their own trail. A few weeks back, I had the chance to talk to Sabin Roman, an engineering manager there about the principles and practices behind how they work as a product and engineering organization. As expected, there were a heap of interesting practices and articulations I've not heard before. A couple of highlights for me: 0️⃣ They've introduced a "zero-bugs policy", which essentially aims to tackle bugs at source, and circumvent the normal process of pushing them to a backlog. Sabin explained how they think of do-it-now vs do-it-later not being zero-sum: customers will be markedly happier not having to live with bugs while you wait to prioritise them so fixing faster makes a material difference. ✨ They ask every engineer to find and surface a quality/design/UX issue within their product every single week. They use this to instil a culture of sweating the details and caring about design. Mandating is equal parts about improving the product and aligning the company on what they care about. It's clearly working – their product looks and feels great. It's a great convo, with a lot of useful and actionable advice. Link in thread to the full episode.

My first podcast, it was really fun! We chatted about how we plan out work at Linear, how we keep the quality bar high, our zero bugs policy, and incident management. Thank you Chris Evans and Lisa Karlin Curtis for welcoming me.
Fast, effortless to use and beautifully designed. Linear is a phenomenal product for modern software development ✨ This week on The Debrief, we talk to Sabin Roman, engineering manager at Linear about how they build… Linear! We dig into topics including: 🤝 How they assemble short-lived teams to build new features 🐛 How they’ve introduced a zero bugs policy to drastically reduce the time before bugs get fixed 🥅 The “goalie” role they’ve introduced to ring-fence capacity for unplanned work ✨ Their processes for driving every engineer to think about quality and sweat the details There’s a huge amount of insight here, and fresh approaches to software development you could stand to learn from. Enjoy!

My favorite part of the new homepage is the logo row with companies that are building with Linear More product teams are switching to Linear (several public companies and some of the biggest AI companies are migrating their teams right now)

A new home for your projects. We are adding a new Projects page that acts as a single entry point for all projects in your Linear workspace. By default, the Projects page shows you a view of all projects in your workspace. You can create custom project views and attach them to the top of the page to highlight specific work streams and keep everyone aligned.
