Great progress at the Frenchtown Road Apartments in East Greenwich. Being developed by Pennrose Company and Coves Homes Inc., Soria, formerly the Frenchtown Road Apartments, is a new mixed-income development located minutes away from downtown East Greenwich. In total, the 66 units will be affordable for individuals making between 30% to 120% of area median income. Incorporating Universal Design Principles, the development will also feature on-site supportive services to provide support and engage residents. This project is made possible thanks to several funding sources including Building Homes RI, Housing Production Fund, HOME, THUD, LIHTC and State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds.

UNION recently completed a two-year climate change study at The House of the Seven Gables in Salem, MA. This effort brought experts together to develop a comprehensive masterplan for the historic House of Seven Gables' gradual retreat from the coastline, while preserving the museum’s long term operational needs and the site’s integrity as a National Historic Landmark. The resulting “road map” not only charts a course for the museum’s longevity, it provides a blueprint for other historic coastal communities and institutions who may face similar challenges by demonstrating how thoughtful planning can begin to bridge the past and the future in an era of climate uncertainty. Grant's Block is officially open! Yesterday, we were honored to participate in the ribbon-cutting ceremony for Grant's Block in downtown Providence, RI. This space, many years in the making, is a privately owned public space (#POPS) created to support the downtown neighborhood's current needs and evolve over time.
