The new Penn State University Palmer Museum of Art, our latest collaboration with Allied Works, makes Architectural Record Magazine. The five-acre museum landscape welcomes visitors and extends experiences of the museum’s collections through a site that unites campus and the Arboretum at Penn State’s H.O. Smith Botanic Garden. Fluid arcs of garden paths weave through the landscape, uniting the galleries with surrounding environs. The landscape features fifteen native and adapted species of trees, and more than forty species of groundcover, ferns, and perennials, all selected in partnership with the Arboretum’s horticultural leadership. Upon arrival at the Palmer, visitors meet an herbaceous garden comprised of sedges and ornamental grasses interspersed with perennials. https://lnkd.in/g9SuZed4

Principal Eric Kramer: "We can’t sit back. The sad fact is that most people think of trees as a decorative background to daily life. A nice to have, not a need to have. To change this outlook and ensure we all do our part to preserve and expand our urban forests, we need to take a cue from this scale of federal investment. We need, at the local level, to begin to treat the urban forest like we do our other public utilities. We need to regulate our urban forest. Here’s why. https://lnkd.in/e5dN86W5
