Today, on World Youth Skills Day, Canada proudly supports the next global generation by helping them achieve their dreams!   Canada has partnered with Generation Unlimited and UNICEF to support the Green Rising program. This initiative invests in #SkillsRightNow to help youths turn their aspirations into reality.   Grace Garba, a teenager from Nigeria, has suffered from the effects of environmental destruction in her community of Urshelima. She experienced a natural disaster firsthand, when the roof of her family’s home was torn off. Her community is also facing biodiversity loss, impacting agriculture.   Through Green Rising, tree nurseries have been established in Urshelima. These trees will act as shields for the homes and help restore degraded land. The trees also produce fruit, which helps improve nutrition and generate income. With this, Grace urges everyone to plant trees rather than cutting them down.     Because of her experiences, she now aspires to one day become a lawyer to protect vulnerable individuals.
