We envision ecologically, economically, and socially responsible forestry as the standard for forest management
About us
The Forest Stewards Guild's mission is to promote ecologically, economically, and socially responsible forestry as a means of sustaining the integrity of forest ecosystems and the human communities dependent upon them. We are a professional organization of forest stewards and affiliates who are passionate about sustaining and restoring the integrity of our forests while meeting the needs of the communities that rely on them. Our members’ work provides tangible examples of forestry that is ecologically, economically, and socially responsible. The common bond of Guild members is a passion for forests and land stewardship. The practice of excellent forestry, promotion of a stewardship ethic, and adherence to our membership principles are the heart and soul of the Guild. Our members practice imaginative silviculture that respects the complexity of natural forests. We value the importance of field observation, experience, science, and continuous learning. We seek opportunities to collaborate, share our knowledge, and learn from others.

"Women’s chainsaw workshops are impactful and empowering! The Forest Stewards Guild, Southwest office, with funding through Women Owning Woodlands, has now facilitated two of these workshops in Northern New Mexico. The first was a two-day event in 2021 that received rave reviews. We decided to try out a less intensive one-day workshop model for a second workshop this past spring." We've held a couple of great Forestry for the Birds events in Oregon this summer! These events brought together natural resource professionals and small woodland owners to discuss minor changes that can be made while continuing to manage for the primary goals of the forest. Our goal is to promote healthy forests and keep common birds common. While in the field, we encountered purple martin, lazuli bunting, western tanager, and so many more! What birds have you been seeing in the field this year? #ForestStewardsGuild #ForestryForTheBirds #OregonEvents #WoodlandOwners #HealthyForests #BirdConservation #BirdWatching #Forestry #Nature #OregonForests #ForestEducation #Conservation

"Our 30-year anniversary is next year. From the beginning, we’ve known that our vision of ecological, economical, and socially responsible forestry as the standard for forest management from coast to coast requires collective effort from a strong, supportive community. Today, the Guild community is stronger than ever, and each member is continuously improving our collective knowledge, efforts, collaborations, and impact."
