We are proud to continue our partnership with NJ TRANSIT as we conduct thorough inspections and site visits to address the service disruptions that occurred between NY and NJ in May and June. Today, we had the honor of hosting Federal Railroad Administration Administrator Amit Bose and Federal Transit Administration Regional Administrator Michael Culotta at our Morrisville, PA substation and on our catenary car in Trenton, NJ. We also visited NJ TRANSIT’s maintenance yard. Our commitment to providing more reliable service to our customers is unwavering, and we are examining every detail in our efforts. Check out the photos from today's visit!

To celebrate National New Jersey Day, we are excited to share the significant strides we’re making with the Portal North Bridge to improve reliability and increase capacity for both daily commuters and long-distance travelers. Recent milestones include: - ⚡New catenary poles have gone up, which provides a new power system for Amtrak and NJ TRANSIT trains with state-of-the-art infrastructure. - 🚥Began steps on installing the first of 15 signal bungalows, which houses the technology that operates the bridge. - 📈 Reaching 67% completion of the project while remaining in budget and on schedule and having zero major safety incidents. This key infrastructure development symbolizes our collaboration with NJ TRANSIT and Gateway Development Commission and shared commitment to enhancing the Garden State’s transportation landscape, while reinforcing our dedication to modernizing travel for the future for local communities, residents and visitors. So we’re with you in spirit today – whether you’re traveling on our trains in NJ, going out to your local diner, visiting the shore – or experiencing all the wonderful things the state has to offer!

🚉 Reflecting on 34 Years of the Americans with Disabilities Act Amtrak is proud to highlight our ongoing commitment to improving accessibility. This fiscal year alone, we've invested $155 million in enhancing station accessibility across our network. With a total of $1.1 billion planned by 2029, we're committed to creating an inclusive travel experience. Our efforts this year brought eight stations into compliance and initiated numerous other projects aimed at improving travel experiences for customers with disabilities. This includes everything from dynamic customer signage to communicating boarding and train status to accessible ticket counters and boarding aids. As Amtrak President @Roger Harris emphasizes, these improvements are made possible through strong partnerships and a shared commitment from the community. Amtrak’s Susquehanna River Rail Bridge Project is officially underway! Last week we kicked off this important bridge upgrade with our partners at U.S. Department of Transportation, Federal Railroad Administration, Maryland Department of Transportation, MDOT MTA, City of Havre de Grace, Town of Perryville and many others. The Susquehanna River Rail Bridge is a vital piece of infrastructure serving approximately 110 daily Amtrak, MARC commuter rail and freight trains. When the project is completed, the existing two-track bridge will be replaced with four total tracks, expanding capacity and allowing for higher speeds. This $2.7 billion project is supported by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, thanks to a $2.08 billion Fed-State grant announced by FRA. We’re excited to kick off early work on this important bridge upgrade, one of several major Amtrak infrastructure megaprojects now underway or set to begin by the end of 2024! Hear what it’s like working in the rail industry from some of the many Amtrak frontline women across the nation--from the Ivy City mechanical yard in Washington D.C. to New York Moynihan Station and the Miami Florida station. Special thanks to our storytellers: Jennifer Acosta, Krystal Armas, Tatiana Clark, Bridgett Hutchinson, Sam Pierce, Nataly Rodriguez. #WeAreAmtrak #DiversityMatters #Amtrak http://spr.ly/6047i5ht5

🙌 Major rehabilitation of the East River Tunnel will begin later this year now that Amtrak has awarded the contract to a joint venture of Skanska and E-J Electric Installation Co. When completed in 2027, this project will provide safer, more reliable travel along the Northeast Corridor through this tunnel that connects intercity trains leaving Manhattan on the NEC north to Boston, as well as commuter services east to Long Island or into Sunnyside Yard. Key Points: 💰 Investment: $1.6B project ensures the modernization and safety of a vital NYC transit link. 🗽 Significance: Essential for seamless travel in and out of New York City on the way to Boston or Long Island. 🛠️ Project Scope: Full restoration of two tunnel tubes damaged by Superstorm Sandy. 🚆 Service Impact: Planned with minimal disruptions; work will proceed one tube at a time. This project would not be possible without the support of our partners at Metropolitan Transportation Authority, NJ TRANSIT, Long Island Rail Road  and the Biden-Harris Administration. We would also like to give a special thanks to Senator Schumer for his relentless support in making this project possible.
