Excellence in Leadership Award

Stanford Graduate School of Business is pleased to announce that David C. Hodgson, MBA ’82, will receive the 2024 Excellence in Leadership Award. The program honoring Hodgson will take place in New York on September 30, 2024.

David C. Hodgson is vice chairman of General Atlantic and has been a member of the investment team for more than 40 years, with extensive experience across the firm’s sectors. After joining General Atlantic as its third investment professional in 1982, he helped build the firm with a singular vision of supporting entrepreneurs as they work to grow their businesses. Hodgson serves as a director of Alignment Healthcare, Howden Group Holdings, Royalty Pharma, and as chairman of TriNet.

Hodgson graduated summa cum laude from Dartmouth College in 1978. He is a member of Phi Beta Kappa and received the Kemeny Prize in computing at his alma mater. In 1982, Hodgson received an MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business.

Hodgson is trustee and chairman emeritus of Johns Hopkins Medicine, a board member of Johns Hopkins Medicine International, a director for Johns Hopkins HealthCare, and is trustee emeritus of Johns Hopkins University. Hodgson is a member of the Stanford Graduate School of Business Advisory Council and is a member of the President’s Leadership Council at Dartmouth College. Hodgson is a board member and chairman emeritus of Echoing Green, a provider of fellowship support for nonprofit entrepreneurs, and serves as chairman of The Manhattan Theatre Club.

This award marks our commitment to underscoring the importance of leadership in business by highlighting the achievements of a senior executive and Stanford GSB graduate who has made significant contributions to the corporate world and the community.
