Upgrading From Gmail To Google Workspace - Email, Drive Files Migration

Hi Team Google Workspace,

We run a business and have been using a single Gmail account for 11 years. We are planning to move to Google Workspace with our own custom domain name.

We also use Google Drive and have nearly 2TB of files.

Currently, we use a personal account with a Google One subscription for additional storage.

We plan to upgrade the existing personal Gmail account to Google Workspace over the weekend while our shop is closed to customers. We want to avoid any issues or outages once we reopen on Monday.

Will the emails be moved automatically when we set up Google Workspace? Additionally, I'm concerned about our Google Drive files. Will they be transferred to the Google Workspace account with the custom domain name?

We would appreciate hearing from your customer support.

Hi, 

If the email address you use is a @businessdomain.com instead of a free Gmail user, when you join Google Workspace, there is a process to invite those users to form part of your organization:

Now, this is a forum which means that We are not really Google support, if you have your Google Workspace admin console, you can reach Google Support directly if you want to hear from them. It is by clicking on the question mark at the top right corner. 

We are happy to help you here but I wanted to be clear that some responses could come from Google's support but most of the time it will be a user like yourself trying to help someone with something they know.
