Firefox v58+ for Windows Update Not Working with MySpeed
Wednesday, 01 November 2017 14:49

The latest Firefox update causes a problem for MySpeed on Windows 10.

MySpeed will still work with Firefox on Windows 10  (and possibly Windows 7) if you follow these steps.

  1. Open Firefox
  2. In the address bar, enter: about:config, click the blue 'I Accept the Risks' button
  3. In the search box, enter: browser.tabs.remote.autostart
  4. Double click the row to change the value in the last column to false
  5. Quit and restart Firefox.

Alternatively, there is another work around that will force Firefox to run its child processes at an integrity level that MySpeed can work with, and still allow multiple plugin containers (makes Firefox faster):

  1. Close all browsers
  2. Click on "Type here to search" on the Windows taskbar
  3. Type: CMD and press Enter
  4. You should have a Command Prompt window displayed
  5. In the command prompt window
  6. Type: SETX MOZ_DISABLE_CONTENT_SANDBOX 1
  7. Press Enter
  8. You should see "SUCCESS: Specified value was saved."
  9. Type: SETX MOZ_DISABLE_NPAPI_SANDBOX 1
  10. Press Enter
  11. You should see "SUCCESS: Specified value was saved. "
  12. Type: EXIT and press Enter
  13. The Command prompt window should close

Applies to: MySpeed for Windows Version 5 and Firefox

Operating System: Windows 10, 7
