Range remains a concern for many electric vehicle buyers, but an increasing number of models are available with 300 miles of range or more. Even among the lower-priced EVs, 250 miles has quickly become the norm.

According to the Environmental Protection Agency’s latest ratings, each of the models below can travel more than 250 miles on a single charge. That means owners don’t need to recharge them every day, and with planning, these vehicles can even be used stress-free for longer trips. Knowing that cold weather can reduce range, these have a particular appeal for shoppers in northern states.

These models have CR’s Green Choice designation, which highlights the vehicles with the cleanest emissions, and each has been purchased and tested by Consumer Reports.

    More On Electric Vehicles

The models below are organized into three groups: those with more than 400 miles of range, 300 to 400 miles, and 250 to 300 miles. Within those groups, they’re ranked based on the EPA estimate for range based on the configuration that will go the longest distance. Then we present Consumer Reports’ range test results, where available, based on the popularly equipped version we purchased, with the range based on the maximum distance the vehicle would travel at highway speeds.

There are several new and forthcoming models that the EPA lists as having more than 300 miles of range, but we haven’t tested them yet or they’re just coming to market. Those vehicles include the Acura ZDX, Fisker Ocean, Honda Prologue, and Polestar 3.
