The Fisker Ocean comes from the reincarnated Fisker company, based in California. This pure-electric front-drive based SUV has a large 113 kWh battery and is supposedly capable of 200 kW in public DC-fast charging places.
EPA driving range is 350 mile for the all-wheel-drive dual-motor variant. It features a solar roof and a large 17-inch center touchscreen that can be rotated 90 degrees for either a landscape or a portrait orientation but there is no Android Auto or CarPlay compatibility. One neat feature is the power retractable rear window. The car feels half-baked with a huge delay in power delivery, unsettled ride, reluctant handling, and a default, overly strong regenerative braking setting that makes passengers nauseous. The barebones cabin looks and feels cheap, claimed recycled materials notwithstanding. There are no traditional dealerships other than a couple of showrooms around the country. Like Tesla, Rivian, and Lucid, buyers order the car online and schedule a home delivery. On June 17, 2024, Fisker Group, Inc. filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. In a statement, the company said that it planned to continue limited operations including 'preserving certain customer programs.'
