Save Wade Wilson from the Death Penalty
STOP THE EXECUTION of Wade Wilson 🙏🏻I am starting this petition because I am a firm believer in the potential for rehabilitation, I urgently implore our legal system to reconsider the death penalty sentence for Wade Wilson. My strong conviction against capital punishment stems from the belief that everyone deserves a second chance. It's a belief rooted in the potential for human change and growth. IF Wade is not granted a new trial or acquittal, I request that rather than executing Wade Wilson, he should be sentenced to life in prison where he has can seek redemption for past mistakes, and even help others avoid the same path. I went to school with a young man who had severe mental issues and was into hard drugs, he killed someone and was sentenced to many years in prison. He took that time to educate himself with the bible, and read nothing but self help books. He used the time to think about the severity of what had happened and due to being allowed prison instead of execution...he changed. He is forever remorseful and was actually allowed to be free again due to the obvious change he exhibited. He is now a married man with children who guides youth on the dangers of drugs and heading down a wrong path. So as a result, he has actually helped many from making the same mistakes he did. People CAN change. People deserve second chances at life-even if it is behind bars.
I personally believe that Wade has been wrongfully convicted and should be granted a new trial or acquittal as requested. There are so many inconsistencies in this case and a lot has been based off of slanderous hearsay testimonies. There seem to be a lot of missing pieces and I believe there is more to this case than we know. Something is off and NONE of it points to premeditation.
Wade suffers from severe mental issues that were brushed off during the trial. He has had many head injuries in his lifetime including car accidents, sporting injuries and being jumped by three inmates which is documented. His lawyer is asking for the sentencing date to be postponed so that four mental health doctors may do the appropriate testing to evaluate him and report the results at the Spencer hearing. Wade deserves a fair trial with all the facts. A lot of Wade's youth he had an altered state of mind due to hard and hallucinogenic drugs. He was a lost, young 25 year old when he was taken into custody. He was on the wrong path, yes but people are human and we all make mistakes that we wish we could undo.
People want to villainize Wade Wilson but Wade is a kind person with a big heart and anyone who truly knows him knows this. He is not a monster like hes been depicted to be. He's a friend, a father and a person whose LIFE MATTERS. Wade is a human being with air in his lungs and a beating heart. Someone with feelings. A boy in a mans body who loves to laugh. Who only just ever wanted to be treated kindly and loved.
I understand that there are consequences when one breaks the law, but execution is an irrevocable act. Only God knows the truth and only God can judge. Executing him is murder. Its taking the life of a human being, which is exactly what hes being accused of doing. Killing Wade is WRONG. Murder is murder, regardless of if one thinks its justified. Executing him and in such an inhumane and excruciating way or at all is not the answer. No one should have the option to end someones life specially when there have been so many people wrongfully sentenced to death row and death.
200 people have been exonerated in the United States, meaning they were wrongfully sentenced to death. Most of those were in FLORIDA. 30 cases to be exact. Something is really wrong here. People need to take a long hard look if they want change in the system. It starts with caring about what happens to people in our criminal justice system.
There are people who have committed insanely brutal premeditated murder of children and worse and they were given life in prison. So why is Wade Wilson being recommended for Capital Punishment? When he clearly has mental issues and should be treated for them in prison, not executed.
There are a lot of outlandish stories and slander being created through social media that has turned this case into a circus. You can't believe everything you hear. A lot of people are trying to gain fame and money using Wade's name and saying anything they choose without any evidence supporting any of it. Those doing this should be ashamed that they are wishing to condemn someone to their death for their own personal gain. I fear that Wade is being used as an example since his case has become so high profile and publicized. The thing is, the majority of the general public does NOT want Wade Wilson executed.
As far as people saying Wade Wilson looked cold at the trial and sentencing recommendation, that is just not true. People have to understand that if he shows emotion, he gets attacked my inmates in jail for weakness and he DID show emotion, people just want to see the villain they've been convinced he is. Not the true person sitting there struggling to swallow. He is in survival mode, scared for his life. No one knows what goes on behind those jail walls. Anyone who studies body language at all, witnessed Wade Wilson hyperventilating as the jurors made their recommendations. We watched a young, scared man trying to keep his composure and fighting back tears. He could barely catch his breath. I also believe Wade got his tattoos that have caused so much of an uproar for for protection. It is common knowledge he was attacked by three inmates in jail. Tattoos are irrelevant and today's youth is covered in them.
I would like to touch on the fact that there was a very recent change in the Death Penalty Law in 2023. When Wade Wilson was arrested in 2019, unanimity of a vote from the jury was the standing law. In an extraordinary event, the rules were changed midway during his prosecution. I believe this is unjust and contradictory to the principles upon which our justice system was built. This unsettling change has prompted an URGENT need for a reevaluation of his case and of it's sentencing.
Consider this: according to Amnesty International, as of 2020, 106 countries have abolished the death penalty in law for all crimes, recognizing it as a cruel and inhumane punishment (Amnesty International, 2020). Moreover, research from the National Academy of Sciences reveals that at least 4.1% of defendants sentenced to death in the US are innocent (National Academy of Sciences, 2014), thus emphasizing the importance of utmost caution when assigning such irreversible sentences. Let's strive to consider alternatives - such as life imprisonment - that respect the sanctity of life while ensuring justice is served.
All I I am asking is that the Honorable Judge Nicholas Thompson has compassion and mercy for this human life. Death is not the answer. I beg of you, allow Wade Wilson to live. A lifetime in prison is a torturous punishment as well, as I understand justice will be served for the accused. So if it must be one or the other, PLEASE sentence him to PRISON not execution. Taking Wade's life doesn't just affect Wade. It affects the tremendous amount of people who care for him, Mothers who would never wish this on their sons, as well as the millions of people who are strongly against Capital Punishment, as it is cruel and inhumane. Wade's children are going to want to talk to their Dad as they grow up and him being executed will just cause pain and trauma to them and so many individuals who do NOT wish death for him. There are some that wish this, but there are a lot more than DO NOT.
There are two petitions on Change.Org currently asking that Wade be saved from the Death Penalty and allowed to live behind prison bars, not on death row ultimately meeting an excruciating fate. As of today, 7/18/24 this petition has 5,000 signatures and the other petition has 9,000. That's already a total of 14,000 people who are begging for Wade to live and the signatures are coming in by the thousands each day. The majority of the general public worldwide do NOT wish death upon Wade Wilson.
