Mansfeld was margrave and voivode of Ard Carraigh, and a governor of Kaedwen.[1] He was also spymaster of the Kaedwenian Secret Service.[2]

Biography[]

In July 1267, after King Henselt's peace treaty was signed with Nilfgaard during the Second Northern War, he instructed Mansfeld to pass on orders to the centurions and warrant officers of the Kaedwenian Army. These orders: five brigades including the Dun Banner were to march to Upper Aedirn, otherwise known as Lormark, to occupy and protect its people, as the region was now under Kaedwenian control for the first time in an age. They were to reach the Dyfne river within three days, as should tensions with the Imperials break down, Kaedwen would need a solid line of territory to hold.[1]

Mansfeld accompanied the Dun Banner from the border until they reached a bridge on the Dyfne, where Mansfeld shook hands with Menno Coehoorn, commander-in-chief for the Nilfgaardian Army, leaving Aedirn to its fate and sealing a criminal division of the spoils.[1]
