🌍 A new definition of progress: insights from Kate Raworth 📈 Last year we were delighted to have Kate Raworth deliver our opening keynote. This year we are building on her key themes with a number of fantastic keynotes focusing on establishing an economy that is regenerative, distributive by design, and lives within the planetary boundaries. In this week's The Guardian, Kate challenges conventional notions of progress on a planet pushed to its limits. Relying solely on GDP as a measure of success is no longer feasible in an era where ecological boundaries are strained and social inequalities persist. 🌱 Drawing from her groundbreaking concept of the Doughnut Economics Action Lab (DEAL), it is time for a holistic approach to economic development - one that prioritises both planetary boundaries and human well-being. Just like a tree, which grows until it can no longer provide nutrients to its outermost leaves, our pursuit of growth should be limited by the goal of distributing and circulating resources to sustain the health of the whole system.🌳 At Reset Connect 2024, we're embracing this call to action. We recognise the imperative of harmonising the 3Ps - people, planet, profit - for a sustainable future. That's why our event is focused on these themes, featuring esteemed speakers such as John Elkington, the pioneer behind the triple bottom line, and speakers from WWF-UK, National Trust and RSPB who are calling for us to Save our Wild Isle. 🔥 Don't miss our fireside chat: Doughnut Economics in Local Governments: Insights from Tomelilla (Sweden) and Ipoh (Malaysia) moderated by Leonora Grcheva, featuring esteemed speakers: 🌍 Datuk Rumaizi Baharin - Mayor of Ipoh City Council, Malaysia 🌍 Britt-Marie McQueen, CEO - Municipality of Tomelilla kommun, Sweden 🌍 Stefan Persson, Organisational Development Manager - Municipality of Tomelilla kommun, Sweden 🎟 Don’t forget to register now for FREE and be part of the change: https://bit.ly/3V2AIEc Read The Guardian's full article here: https://lnkd.in/ecntNAur #Sustainability #DoughnutEconomics #ResetConnect #rcl24 #Regeneration #TripleBottomLine #PeoplePlanetProfit #SaveOurWildIsles #Article #Economy

Love this! Anyone not able to repair their own clothes head on down to an M&S! 🪡👏
M&S launches clothing repair service 👚 Did you know only 10% of the population feel confident enough to repair clothing themselves? And 60% of consumers want retailers to offer more services which support them to live a more circular life. That’s why we’re launching a clothing repair service in partnership with repair and alterations experts SOJO. From August, customers can book a range of repair services through the M&S Fixed by SOJO hub – part of our new circularity identity Plan A – ‘Another Life’. The service is supported by our Plan A Accelerator Fund and is part of our commitment to invest in driving the circular economy. An incredible couple of days on the Wealth & Investment Management Hub. Thanks for hosting Julia Dreblow SRI Services See you in October!
Tired but happy having had a fantastic two days at Reset Connect, part of London Climate Action Week #LCAW24. A huge thank you to the panelists who helped tell the story of #SDR in the Wealth and Investment hub: Ben Constable Maxwell Miranda Beacham Sebastian Elwell FPFS TEP Katherine Dockreay Adam Robbins Ben Palmer Lisa Laybourn Over the course of four sessions we explored: ‘The SDR labels’ (why having client friendly labels makes sense, and how they compare), ‘Beyond the labels’ (wider SDR requirements, the options that can’t or won’t use labels), ‘Addressing Greenwash‘ (intentional vs unintentional, it’s challenges, how ‘anti greenwash’ underpins everything we do - and why we must not put people off talking about sustainability) and ‘Are the new SDR rules enough?’ (SDR is still work in progress - and we need to think big / work smarter if we are to address climate change). See you all again next year’s #LCAW Reset Connect show - and at our London conference on 3 October!

Thanks so much Andrew. So glad you had so many fruitful conversations and got to meet some of the incredible innovations and companies making progress in this space.
I help businesses revive their redundant IT assets, protect their data, save the environment, stimulate a circular economy, improve digital equality and boost their ESG Score
What I made of Reset Connect London Climate Action Week was in full swing at ExCel over the last two days and, while sustainability conferences can sometimes be a chasm of doom and gloom, I found nothing but enthusiasm, passion and optimism for the future. When I first arrived on Tuesday, I was initially underwhelmed by the size of the exhibition. I was expecting more stands and more razzle dazzle, but in fact the layout was good without being overly cluttered and the quality of exhibitors more than made up for the quantity. And, of course, what society needs is much less frivolous excess! I spent two days learning from businesses of all shapes and sizes, from small innovative startups to large corporates, from charities to councils and came away with a lot. On day two I loved meeting Co:cubed matching innovative startups with large corporates. Bioregional working with businesses to improve their ESG. TrackerSack Technologies Ltd helping companies managing their waste streams more effectively. Got wonderful advice from Kim Dunn on how to improve biodiversity in my garden and The Future Forest Company pointed me in the right direction for which trees to plant this year. I learnt from Westminster City Council how they're working above the guidelines delivered from City Hall and helping other London boroughs to tackle environmental issues. I've taken information from Picker Pals to pass on to my daughters school to provide equipment and information to inspire 6 to 9 year olds to carry out litter picking in their neighbourhoods. I made wonderful connections that I'm hoping to build upon to, enhanced ideas on how to spread the message of the circular economy and how ICEX GROUP is playing a vital role in reducing the impact that E-waste has on the environment. But more than anything I have the renewed belief that business will find a way to overcome the many obstacles which lay ahead of us in averting the climate disaster. Bravo to Reset Connect for such a wonderful two days. I'm already looking forward to next year! #LCAW2024 #ResetConnect #Sustainability #CircularEconomy

[London Climate Action Week!] These past two days, we attended Reset Connect, the flagship event for London Climate Week, which brings together leaders and innovators to drive forward #climateaction and #sustainablesolutions. Our Corporate Lead, Marguerite Delormel, spoke on the Net Zero stage to share our mission with farmers and corporates, explaining how we are revolutionising and regenerating the food system's #supplychain. 🌱 There were multiple engaging talks in the #FoodSystem Hub. The three main topics discussed were: the essential role of soil health, strategies for engaging suppliers in the agricultural food value chain, and how #regenag is the solution for climate change. #regenerativeagriculture

Key takeaways from the, ‘You Have a Sustainability Strategy but Now What?’ Reset Connect panel, with Selina Donald, Gabriella Weekes, Joanne Fielding and Donna Abberley. “It’s so important that we share our knowledge - nobody in this industry can work in silo. What you don’t know, you can’t change…” - Selina “Sustainability should be considered from the very start and not an after-thought… make sure your creative team are with you in asking the right questions.” - Gabriella “Nobody has all the answers, but by working with each other, we will get there.” - Joanne #SustainabilityMatters #ResetConnect

Head of Partnerships @ The Sustainability Community ♻️🌎 The team behind the UK's leading sustainability events 🍃 Yorkshire Sustainability Festival
It's good to be reminded what all this work in sustainability is about. Reset Connect are showing a short documentary inspired by the BBC documentary, Wild Isles. The film focuses on nature-based solutions' role in combatting the climate crisis, how investors can do more to protect nature, and 'how we can bank on a wilder tomorrow'. Did you know that the UK has lost 70% of its ancient woodland, 90% of its wetlands, and 97% of its wildflower meadows? Without the damage being undone we won't have a buffer to help us with climate change, nature will no longer be able to clean our air and water and our food and agriculture systems will likely collapse. The good news is that this can be fixed. It's estimated that there is currently $400 trillion in capital in the financial system globally. It's also estimated that to restore nature would cost $11 trillion globally; a tiny fraction. It'll likely cost more the longer we leave it, too. There are many business cases for doing this, too. The one that stuck with me is that 37% of climate mitigation or adaptation will come from nature. You can also say that it's the right thing to do. Lots of food for thought as we start planning our Green Finance UK event later in the year. I'll leave a link to watch the film in the comments...
