Marie Cornel is the mother of Kurtis Trent mentioned by the writer Murti Schofield while elaborating more on the story of Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness and its planned sequels.[2]

Biography[]

Marie Cornel is an American Navajo specialist on Shamanism and the Way of the Warrior. Marie Cornel's father was one of the U.S. Marines officers who worked with the Navajo Code Talkers during World War II, which explains her area of specialist interest and her tribal links to the Chumash and Tongva peoples of pre-European California. These tribes had an ancient understanding of the Watchers Of The Land[2].

In 1966, while she is on a lecture tour in Europe she met Konstantin. Marie gets caught in the crossfire between him and the Cabal where she inhibits unexpected innate powers that enables the attack to be defeated. Marie and Konstantin share a night together, but after this encounter Marie returns to the States[2].

In 1969 Konstantin arrives in the US, and looks up Marie. Shortly after that Konstantin and Marie get secretly married in a desert tribal ceremony. For the next few years they move back and forth between the States and Europe[2].

Their son Kurtis is born in 1972 beneath the Utah Salt Flats in a secure Lux Veritatis bolthole. Marie and Kurtis go into hiding as soon as they were able to travel. Three years later the whole family returns to Europe. They move around a variety of Lux Veritatis safe houses in ancient stronghold sites throughout Europe and the Middle East. There are many close calls with forces of the Cabal[2].

Around 1976, Marie and Kurtis spend a year in Scotland in hiding whilst Konstantin fends off a particularly vicious campaign to wipe out the last elders of the Lux Veritatis[2].

In 1991, after years of intense Lux Veritatis initiations, Kurtis runs away from home, leaving Marie alone[2].

Ten years later in 2001 Konstantin is killed by Pieter Van Eckhardt. Hearing of this, Marie who lived in the States at the time, sent the Periapt Shard and the Chirugai to Kurtis[2].
