Admin?[]

You've been a great help, and I'd like to make you an admin. Let me know if you are interested and/or if you have questions (via a reply here). — Ferretwings, Wiki Specialist (talk) 14:56, 11 September 2023 (UTC)

Hi, I'm not familiar with Gamepedia-exclusive stuff (like the Cargo extension), but I hope it couldn't prevent me from editing. I have an access to the source code of Terraria, so I hope it could help with creating new templates and modules. Is there a place like Community Noticeboard, where admins could suggest/ask active contributors about new features for the wiki? — latest?cb=20230204123035&path-prefix=ru BotAntony (not a bot actually) (talk page | contributions) 15:10, 11 September 2023 (UTC)
There is a lot of learning on the job as an admin. Many of my own Cargo queries don't work, which is driving me nuts. Our Cargo expert left, as did our Lua expert. I was the DPL semi-expert, and between the 3 of us, we kept the wiki running pretty smoothly. As you have noticed, our wiki relies heavily on databases. Now I'm learning how to do their jobs as well, and it's taking some time.
We have brought on admins that have other specialties and resources to offer (not too many recently). Understanding the C spaghetti code that Terraria runs on is a plus. The main qualification for admin is, can we trust you? I have looked at your edits, and yes, I trust you. If you make a mistake, just fix it or undo it. You can create test modules and templates to try out new code. You may want to create pages in your userspace if you brainstorm ideas (I actually need to clean out my own userspace because 90% of it will never be used).
The obvious place to post wiki suggestions would be Terraria Wiki:Community noticeboard, but there is also Terraria Wiki:List of proposed changes. I should probably add that to the wiki navigation at the top.
Any proposed changes that might go against Fandom's policies should be brought up with our wiki rep Saunt3D (talk). He can advise and give suggestions. — Ferretwings, Wiki Specialist (talk) 17:43, 11 September 2023 (UTC)
If you think that I can be be an admin, I would be glad to help. Also I want to set up interlanguage links using Template:Language info on the ru section, so the admin rights could be kinda useful. — latest?cb=20230204123035&path-prefix=ru BotAntony (not a bot actually) (talk page | contributions) 18:41, 11 September 2023 (UTC)
Welcome to the team! If you see something that needs improving, feel free to jump right in :). If you feel you don't have the right skills, just make a note of it. — Ferretwings, Wiki Specialist (talk) 21:08, 11 September 2023 (UTC)

Vandal[]

Bad news, he does not seem to be banned, also many categories are still messed up, seemingly due to: https://terraria.fandom.com/wiki/I,_Chase_Evan_Westfall,_am_back!_And_my_boyfriend_Omnivastance_is_with_him_this_time!_File:RorryTrans.png

The changes were reverted, however wiki caches pages. You can purge page (add ?action=purge to the url) or choose "Purge" option in the dropdown menu. —latest?cb=20230204123035&path-prefix=ru BotAntony (not a bot actually) (talk page | contributions) 20:27, 27 October 2023 (UTC)

ah that does seem to be the case, thank you

Site-wide CSS[]

The site-wide CSS here causes an overlap when viewing the Editor as seen [image removed]. (Feel free to delete this image after the issue is corrected.)

This can be remedied by removing the code on .ve-fd-header in MediaWiki:Fandomdesktop.css (lines 525-530). —Rappy 17:53, 2 December 2023 (UTC)

Thank you for noticing about the issue, it should be fixed now. —latest?cb=20230204123035&path-prefix=ru BotAntony (not a bot actually) (talk page | contributions) 18:01, 2 December 2023 (UTC)
Thanks. Looks good. Rappy 14:39, 4 December 2023 (UTC)

Either Ale or Sake will give +5 fishing power[]

I verified both before editing the fishing page. I also cleaned up the wording on the Ale and Sake pages to be clearer that *either* will give +5 fishing power (it was ambiguous before, sounding like you might have to drink both to get +5). The only thing I don't remember testing was if the bonuses stack. Does drinking Ale and Sake give you 5+5=10 fishing power? I think it will, but I can't remember now whether I tested that or not. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Uncrushed (talkcontribs) at 01:00, 9 March 2024

Hi, thank you for your note. I am not sure which version you are playing, but on 1.4.4.9, neither of these items gives +5 fishing power: https://youtu.be/gGaEF1s2ol0. I checked the source code of the game, and there is no evidence that the Tipsy debuff provides fishing bonuses.
P.S. Please, next time, do not forget to add ~~~~ at the end of your message. Thank you for your edits. —latest?cb=20230204123035&path-prefix=ru BotAntony (not a bot actually) (talk page | contributions) 01:38, 9 March 2024 (UTC)

Synergy between the Stardust Dragon and the Firecracker whip?[]

On this page: https://terraria.fandom.com/wiki/Stardust_Dragon_Staff

I found this: "Due to its high amount of damage with many segments, the Firecracker's tag can deal immense amounts of damage in one hit when used alongside it."

2 Questions:

  • Is this sentence true?
  • Why is it on the Dragon Staff page?

I tried this combination and don't see what the fuss is about. The Firecracker seems like junk compared to the Kaleidoscope (or any other hardmode whip really). I'm sure it's good compared to pre-hardmode whips. But a specific synergy with the Dragon Staff? I don't see it, but I'm not confident enough to remove the sentence.

Is this sentence on the wrong page? --Uncrushed (talk) 05:27, 8 April 2024 (UTC)

Quick Answers[]

Hello!

I’m reaching you because your wiki has been recently selected to start receiving QuickAnswers. In case you’re not already aware, appearing as modules on our wikis to help our content be more relevant and accessible to Google and eventually enhance the SEO.

QA are generated prompts of text in a Questions & Answers format. The initial plan is to add 30 to 50 QuickAnswers to 10 of your content pages about characters, starting next week. One week later we would be adding more QuickAnswers to new pages. For each one of these batches you have a default timeline of 30 calendar days to review them using the Dashboard. In case they’re not accurate, you can edit them and fix them. Once this period ends, the QA would be auto-published.

We also have the ability to adjust how many character pages you receive at once as well as how often you receive new questions.

Because the meaningful scale Google requires us to create this kind of content, we leverage Generative AI to create this initial content to achieve the required scale. With the latest iteration of this feature, we’ve been able to adjust the tone and quality of the Quick Answers to be more encyclopedic to match the wiki. You can read more details about it here: https://community.fandom.com/wiki/Help:Quick_Answers

While this is the initial plan, I would like to know from you about how you feel and if you think all the admins from your community would be able to check them and edit them if it’s necessary. In addition, you can always reach us some time later to share any future concerns or setbacks you could have. Thanks in advance!

Once your wiki starts containing these QA, all admins are able to review them in advance before being published. All existing QA - published and unpublished - are always available in the Dashboard (Special:QuickAnswers).

Please let me know if you have any questions! pikushi ✧.* 16:48, 15 May 2024 (UTC)

How to Find Support for Your Wiki[]

Hello!

I’m Elsa, and I’m a Senior Community Manager here at Fandom. You may have seen the news that, as of April 2024, the Wiki Representative program has been retired. You can read more about that change here.

That’s led to changes in how a number of wikis on Fandom are directly supported through our new support setup. As a result, we no longer have an assigned point of contact for this wiki. We’ve loved having the chance to work with your wiki directly, and I can assure you that there are a lot of ways that you can still get help and support from the Fandom team.

If you need assistance with anything you might have contacted your Wiki Representative about, here are some ways you can reach out and stay informed about the Fandom platform moving forward:

  • Join our Fandom Discord server. Not only can you discuss wiki issues directly with other editors and Fandom staff, but it’s also a great source of information about what’s happening on the Fandom platform.
  • Browse our help pages or get in touch with other editors on the Community Central discussion forums.
  • Check out Dev Wiki, a great source of custom and site-wide scripts with a group of technical editors who can also answer questions about technical subjects like custom code.
  • We’ll be working on some other ways you may be able to find additional support and even mentorship opportunities as well.

For anything else, feel free to submit a help request via the Fandom Help Desk where we have a team of Customer Support experts who can give you a hand.

So while the specifics of our community support setup may have changed, we remain committed to supporting your wiki – so don’t hesitate to reach out to us with any questions you may have.
