Storyline[]
In restarting the timeline, Liu Kang redesigned the destinies of many kombatants he once knew. In doing so, he created a timeline in which Hanzo is not killed and resurrected as the Spectre Scorpion, instead changing his fate to be a human living in Earthrealm. Additionally, the Scorpion mantle is instead given to Kuai Liang, while his brother is designed to be Sub-Zero once again.
Mortal Kombat 1[]
After defecting from the Lin Kuei, Kuai Liang and Tomas form a new clan, the Shirai Ryu as a means of succeeding the Lin Kuei as a clan dedicated to Earthrealm's protection. One night, Tomas was attacked by a young homeless, orphaned boy, revealed to be Hanzo. Tomas, seeing the potential in the boy, took him in as his own, and Hanzo became one of the first initiates of the new Shirai Ryu.
