The Fighting Monk was an Outworld warrior, and was the first opponent that Liu Kang had to fight in the Mortal Kombat movie in order to advance further into the tournament. After he was defeated by Liu Kang, Shang Tsung took his soul, leaving behind only a pale dead body.
In the novelization, the character is shorter than Liu Kang and he does not use any weapons. After his defeat by Liu Kang, he just passes out and lies on the ground.

- Seemingly human in appearance, he emulated tiger-like growls and roars, indicating that he may have been a humanoid.
- The character was played by veteran martial artist and kickboxing champion Hakim Alston.
