Mysterium is a unique metallic meta-material formed by condensing kirbons and harvested from the White Hot Room.[4]

The Six condensing kirbons into mysterium
Shortly after reforming S.W.O.R.D. under the supervision of Krakoa, Commander Abigail Brand began to plan for what comes next. To that end, she ensembled the Six, a team of mutants whose powers could be used synergistically to travel beyond the Far Shore and safely into the White Hot Room. Inside the White Hot Room, the Six were able to procure a precious metal later named mysterium.[6] In preparation for the Hellfire Gala, Brand and the Six stockpiled massive amounts of mysterium.[7]
During the Hellfire Gala and following the terraforming of Planet Arakko, Commander Brand and her agents of S.W.O.R.D. unveiled mysterium to the Galactic Council. After reviewing its various properties, Brand gifted 100 tons of mysterium to each galactic society member willing to accept her offer and the condition to acknowledge the Planet Arakko as the capital of the Sol System and Storm as the Regent of Mars and the Voice of Sol. The Intergalactic Empire of Wakanda declined the offer, but all other Galactic Council members accepted. Brand offered to donate more mysterium to the Galactic Council to back the credit or use mysterium as the basis for a new unit of currency ("The Sol"). Before accepting Brand's offer, Galactic Ambassador Paibok confirmed with Emperor Hulkling, who accepted the "free sample" for now with continued plans to navigate other issues (such as the "Wanda Maximoff situation") in time.[5]
According to Galactic Ambassador Paibok, "The Sol" has already become an informal term for the proposed "new credit" as news has spread to other interstellar civilizations.[5]
After "borrowing" the Mercury for several months, Emma Frost finally properly purchased the ship from Eden Rixlo using mysterium.[8]
During Dormammu's invasion, Storm provided Wakanda with mysterium as a substitute for Vibranium as the power core of their Koukou Array to defend Aerie for the Mindless Ones and the Mindless One-possessed Bauble.[9] A mysterium bullet was used to banish Dormammu with its immense antimagic properities.[10]
Mysterium was used to create a puzzle box that was sent to the past and spawned Threshold with genetic material from Genosha.[11]
Mysterium incited a war between the Sectors United and the Whitecaps in the Manifold Territories, which the Guardians of the Galaxy ended up stealing.[12]
Sorcerers Wong and Doctor Strange borrowed mysterium from Jean Grey to break spells and Dormammu's possession of a human.[13][14] Clea used mysterium to attack General Strange, but the latter used wood to knock it out of her hand.[1]

- —Doctor Strange after being stabbed by a mysterium knife[src]
Notorious among sorcerers for its antimagic,[13] mysterium has several notable properties:
- Durability: Once mysterium sets (cools below 200 Kelvin), its strength and durability is superior to true adamantium, as it can block blows from and shatter it.[18] Captain Marvel cannot bend it.[15]
- Conductivity: Mysterium conducts electricity at 100% efficiency. However, unlike other metals, mysterium barely conducts or retains heat. Additionally, mysterium is radiation-proof.[5]
- Magnetic Properties[5]
- Magical Properties: Mysterium resonates with magic.[4][10][9]
- Anti-Magic: It is revealed that mysterium can also negate the effects of magic. It was even able to negate a Faltine-possessed Ego the Living Planet.[10] A bullet made of mysterium prevented Selene from magically guarding herself.[20] Touching mysterium instantly breaks spells.[13] Sorcerers are vulnerable while touching it and mysterium can free people from possession.[14] Doctor Strange's spells do not work on it and he is unable to move it with magic;[15] also, his connection to magic is severed if he is stabbed by it.[21]
- Immunity to the Spider-Sense: Spider-Man's Spider-Sense cannot detect mysterium.[15]
Notes
- Hexfinder managed to create faux mysterium called low mysterium.[22]
Trivia
- Mysterium is the most valuable material in the galaxy.[12]
- Clea is incensed with the distrubition of mysterium as she is a magical being and thus it is deadly to her. She compares it to distributing M-Pox-inducing Terrigen Mist or mutant-hunting Sentinels.[13]
