Synopsis
“Humans of planet Earth. While you slept, the world changed.” The now iconic opening line from HOUSE OF X #1, the start of writer Jonathan Hickman’s radical transformation of the X-Men franchise, foretold the incredible plans that mutantkind was about to unleash on the Marvel Universe. This June, the X-Men set out to change the world yet again at mutantkind’s inaugural HELLFIRE GALA.

- Each year, Marvel hosted an online X-Men election where fans voted for a character to become one of the X-Men, then the roster (including the winner) would be announced in that year's Hellfire Gala.
- 2021: Armor, Banshee, Boom-Boom, Cannonball, Forge, Marrow, Polaris (WINNER), Strong Guy, Sunspot, and Tempo.
- 2022: Armor, Avalanche, Bling!, Firestar (WINNER), Gentle, Gorgon, Micromax, Penance, Siryn, and Surge.
- 2023: Cannonball, Dazzler, Frenzy, Jubilee, Juggernaut (WINNER), and Prodigy.
- For this gala, all of the candidates are selected as X-Men, but Orchis attacks soon after and kills almost all of them. The fan vote instead picked the one to survive the attack.
- This vote was very close and three candidates were in the lead at different points in time.[1]
- The dead X-Men ended up receiving their own book: Dead X-Men.
- Real-life celebrities have made guest appearances at the galas.
