Initial Encounters with Spider-Man[]

The Vulture was one of the many villains that Peter Parker came to encounter during his career as the masked vigilante Spider-Man.^[1] One such encounter happened during Peter's first day of college at Empire State University. The Vulture attempted to kill his old research partner, Greg Bestmen, who was a teacher at the institute. As Spider-Man, Peter intervened and the two engaged in a tough battle, with Toomes' speed getting the better of him. However, the young hero managed to succeed and defeat Toomes.^[2]

On another confrontation, Spider-Man managed to jam Vulture’s wings using a hand-made jamming device, which was effective until the latter upgraded his wings. During a subsequent fight, Spider-Man forcefully ripped off Vulture’s wings, which culminated in someone using them to try to fly to Long Island. It is unknown exactly how Spider-Man responded to this, but he has implied in recountings that it did not end well.^[3] Spider-Man eventually managed to take down the Vulture for good, and he was incarcerated in the Raft.^[1]

Devil's Breath Crisis[]

It was during his imprisonment that Toomes fell ill to spinal cancer, developed due to the back-mounted batteries of his suit. In 2018, he was approached by scientiest Otto Octavius, who offered to seek a cure for his illness in exchange for the Vulture to join his Sinister Six, a team of super villains assembled by Octavius as part of his revenge plan on Mayor Norman Osborn. When Octavius became Doctor Octopus, he broke his cohorts out of the Raft, and outfitted them with new gear, including a new flight suit for the Vulture. Together, the Sinister Six ambushed and defeated Spider-Man atop the rooftop of the Raft, after which Doctor Octopus tossed him into the East River.

During his subsequent investigation into Octopus' lair, Spider-Man triggered an explosive trap. He managed to escape through a vent, but was captured by the Vulture and tossed him toward the Oscorp power plant that he and and Electro were attacking. Both villains battled Spider-Man, but he managed to defeat them both.^[1]

Kraven's Last Hunt[]

Two years later, Adrian came onto the radar of Sergei Kravinoff, also known as Kraven the Hunter, and began to be targeted by his followers, eventually being captured. He was forced to fight him, as Kraven wished to die to someone he considered an equal in the hunt. However, the elderly Vulture fell in combat, and his flying harness became a trophy amongst Kraven's collection.^[3]

Spinal Cancer: Adrian developed spinal cancer due to the batteries of his suit, prompting Doctor Octopus to upgrade it.

Seemingly those of Adrian Toomes of Earth-616, later upgraded by Otto Octavius.

• Adrian developed spinal cancer due to exposure to his suit's power source.
• In one of their most earlier face offs, Spider-Man used an Anti-Magnetic Inverter to jam Vulture's Wings, Adrian however would upgrade his wings to counter this.
• Peter Parker considers Vulture a "Casual racist" and feels Vulture's opinions are not worth challenging him on.^[2]
